Sibling Legacy?

My sister is attending Yale right now, so I was wondering whether there was any sort of sibling-type legacy that could be applied to my situation around the time of applications. That's not to say that I wouldn't get in on my own credentials (I've not a clue whether they would/wouldn't get me in) though I was just curious whether my sister's entry had any effect.

It could. My sister is at Stanford undergrad and my brother is at Stanford Law. I got in, but I got into HYPS, so I guess my app was good enough but the legacy helped.

I wouldnt bank on it helping a ton. yes, it definitely helps, but it is no longer as important as I am sure it used to be. My sister attends duke right now and I was unable to get in even with a good gpa, nice extra curriculars, and an average act score (31). my grandpa went to duke and my dad got his undergrad and graduate degree from duke. Yeah, you could say I got screwed but with how competitive admissions have become, there really are no guarantees! Good luck though!

There was no sibling legacy at Yale when I last asked after my sibling was turned down despite acceptance into another very selective institution.

Who knows if there is some subconscious bias, but there is certainly no explicit sibling legacy policy anywhere. Maybe if you are twins, triplets, or multiplets, acceptance of one sibling can affect another.
