sibling legacy

ive heard that dartmouth's sibling legacy is a pretty big deal. can anyone verify that claim? if one were to apply to dartmouth rd do they lose legacy privledges (i know upenn parent legacy requires ed commitment)

hopefully that was clear

thanks

Siblings are not legacies at Dartmouth.

However there are a number of students at Dartmouth who also have siblings that attend (some are legfacies whose parents attended Dartmouth, other are not).

The other side of the coin is that there are students at Dartmouth whose siblings were not admitted.

At most schools the legacy tip is more important in ED than it is in RD (ED is predicated on the assumption that the school is your first choice. Using the legacy tip in ED says you want to follow a tradition, where as in RD it says you are using your legacy connection as a fall back)

ok so having a sibling already at dartmouth does nothing to bolster your app?

Dartmouth is favorable toward sibling so having on would be a tip in your favor should your application have to go to committed (not a auto admit or an auto deny).

... Better hope your sibling is doing well at Dartmouth. :p

i actually dont have a brother or a sister at dartmouth but i have a friend that does and was wondering if "legacy" existed for siblings and if she lost that privledge if applying rd rather than ed.
