i'm applying 2012-2013 ED to penn CAS - my brother attends currently, sister already graduated. both are in good standing at the school. would this give me a boost as normal legacy would?
also, i had an aunt who went there, would that help? if so, where would i put that down on my application? thanks

No, you would not receive legacy boost because Penn defines legacy as parent or grandparent only. While it’s very impressive, unfortunately, it will not help you as normal legacy would.

This being said, some people have listed Penn relatives on their applications where the grandparents should be listed to show Penn that they have some sort of connection. However, I’m not sure how effective this is and I personally wouldn’t do that because it might seem like a) I’m trying to bias admissions with false legacy and/or b) I can’t follow directions.

Some also choose mention their Penn relatives in their essays, but I’d think that would seem forced as if you’re desperate for some sort of advantage.

It’s up to you though and just remember that legacy boost isn’t that significant so if you’re qualified, you should be able to get in without it. Good luck!

While you do not get legacy status, you probably do get a little admissions boost.
