Sick=botched finals=botched GPA=botched chances?!?? Help

**will chance anyone who helps!

My finals lowered my unweighted GPA to a 3.67 :'(

I was interested in applying to Vassar (probably EDI) and BC among others. Should I aim lower now (and what should those be)??

I attend a private all-girls school with less than 200 students with limitted extracurriculars and courses.

Stats:
•GPA: 3.67 (grr)
•Class rank: not administered
•Courses: adv. select (highest placement in all): American Lit., US History, Precalc, Spanish III, Biology II, Religion
•Senior courses: (adv. select) World Lit., Psychology, AP Calc (only offered), Spanish IV, Physics, World Religion.
**course placement does not permit me to take any other courses like arts :(
•AP exams: US History, Language and Composition, Biology
•extra curriculars: secretary/ pres. of art club, Spanish club, book club, retreat leader

•SAT: 1940 (plan to retake; projected 2200+)
•SATII: Bio, US History, Lit (projected ~750)

•community service: swim instructor; 3hr/week
•work: medical practice-clerical assitant, local city art museum

Personals:
•I have a reputation for being the creative backbone of my school. I often design school pamphlets and assembly brouchures and am recognized for my creative writing skills. I may major in pysch or phys. anthro.

Admissions:
**specifically for Vassar since it's my first choice but will apply with the same rigor for all (except ED)
• interview
• essay (it will be good haha)
• your space: visual memoir/ portfolio
• teacher recs (commendable)
• apply EDI

I this enough to get me in? I am seriously concerned that I just don't make the cut offs for the schools I've been interested in...thanks

I’m not sure if you can get into Vassar, but if you get a really stellar SAT it is possible. What’s your weighted? Unfortunately you can’t justify sickness as a reason for poor final grades, unless you were incapacited for months at home or in a hospital.

Bring your GPA up beginning of senior year.

If you can get a 2200+ and apply ED you have a good chance.

2000+ in fact, you should stand a reasonable chance there.

you need better ECs. do/make/participate in something/multiple noteworthy things.

your essay must not be good, it must be exceptional. make it describe a topic in a unique way while simultaneously showing who you are as a person and saying something special.

make yourspace really awesome too.

same with teacher recs. i’d correspond with them over the summer and try to establish relationships and when you ask them to write your rec, give them additional info about yourself so they can make it more personal.

letter of continuing interest should help too.

i don’t believe they have a cutoff, so if you can compensate for what may be a less than stellar GPA by making the rest of your app outstanding, I think:

High Match.

Definitely do an awesome job on your application.

Best of luck, PM me if you need to.

Hopefully I’ll see you there, I’ll be a sophomore there in the fall!

I wasn’t trying to make an exuse for my marks on finals, I am just frusterated that on the week of my tests I became ill. I understand the repercussions, but wanted the opinions of others. My SATs, based on current progress, will be above a 2200. My weighted GPA will be 3.8+.

lol i think its funny when people guarantee score increases of over 200 points

I think you’re ok and here’s why:
Every college app will have a section called extenuating circumstances for you to explain any issues with grades or other things. Make sure you fill this out!

Otherwise, raise your SAT and you’ll get a big letter from Vassar!

Chance me!
