Side Show

Here are some video clips of Side Show at Baldwin-Wallace College Conservatory of Music:

Wow! They're great! I'm confused, though; one pair was brunettes; the others were blonde. ? Did they have 2 pairs for one show, or did they do Sideshow more than once?

Most leads are usually double cast at Baldwin-Wallace to give more students an oppotunity to perform. The musicals usually run two weeks for this reason. I believe these are the two different casts which you would see performing on different nights.

thanks for posting...what a bunch of talented kids!

We saw the Friday night performance, and I have to say that it was simply spectacular. The opening scene alone was worth the price of admission and the trip up to Berea! As my daughter put it, that was a "major goosebump moment".

This show was freaking amazing. If you have the chance to see it, PLEASE do. I saw the blonde cast on Sunday and they were, quite simply, perfect. My friends at home dislike the show itself so I wasn't expecting much but it blew me away. If you need any proof of B-W's greatness, see this show. It was the cherry on top of an incredible weekend. I'll post more on the audition later. SrMoment, did your D audition that weekend? We probably ran into eachother and didn't even know.

Oh, I get it......."freaking amazing". Good one danimal88. ;)

Yes, my D auditioned on Saturday.......1 of the 40......yikes!!!! But I agree that it was a great weekend, and B-W has a very impressive program. I hope your audition proves to be successful.

I'm glad that you all enjoyed the show. So much work went into putting it together and It's nice for that work to pay off. Thanks for the compliments!

SrMoment - Which one was she?

BWMT09 - Were you in the show?

I was. I was the shortest Roustabout, if that gives you a clue to which one I was.

Hey does anyone at BW know if a student there, initials MR, was in that show? He's a junior and went to high school with my daughter. I also had him as a student for 7th grade math.

Sorry I missed BW's production! As many of you may know, CMU is also doing SIDE SHOW soon - and the twins are amaaaaaaaaaazing!!! (As are the other performers!) Catch it if you can!!! ;)

i watched part of a tech rehearsal of Sideshow at CMU, it was so amazing. the set was fascinating.

Whoops - it looks like the video clips of Side Show are no longer available on YouTube. Does anyone know if these are available for viewing somewhere else? We'd love to see a sample of B-W's work! Thanks.

Unfortunatly one of the students in the show got upset that the videos were put up so they were all taken down. I wish they would have stayed up because it was great publicity for the program. If they ever go up again (or any other BW performances) I will let everyone know right away.

Thanks! We've asked a number of schools for videotapes of their productions, but none have been able to help us out. It may have something to do with copyright laws. It's unfortunate, because we learn so much the schools when we're able to see the actual productions. The proof is in the pudding!

Wow! That's a shame, because it was FABULOUS! Such difficult songs to sing and the girls did an amazing job!!

Videos of licensed shows cannot be put up online. If the licensing agencies get wind of it, the school can get in real trouble. If it was the school who put them online initially, they should know better!

alwaysamom is right (as always). The contracts which colleges sign with the licensing agencies (Tams-Witmark, Rodgers & Hammerstein, MTI, etc.) forbid the videotaping of shows, much less broadcasting clips. The consequences are potentially severe. The agency could sue. But worse, the agency could refuse to do business with the college involved. You can imagine the impact that would have on the repertoire available to us for production. If you want to see, just for example, the shows which MTI owns, click on this link:

Last spring, we faced a similar situation. A student had taped portions of our production of 42nd Street and posted them on youtube. As soon as I found out about it, they were taken down. I loved the idea of people being able to see our students' beautiful work, but the potential liability to those same students and others who will come after was huge. So please understand the legal environment in which we must work.

Hey everyone, I'm a freshman in the program

rossji- that would be Mike Russo

Here is the one clip that is posted---

I WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU
