Siemens Competition 2017

Hi everybody! I didn’t see a thread for this so I decided to make it. Who all is entering their research into this year’s Siemens Competition? What field of study did you complete your research in? The deadline is tomorrow! Also, do you think it’d be within the rules to submit your paper to Harvard’s Journal of Emerging Investigators?

I am entering in the field of mathematics/computer science. How about you?

Sweet! I’m entering into the field of computer science/bioinformatics.

Hi! I am entering in the field of Biology/Cell/Cancer Biology/Neuroscience.

I just submit my project. What regions are you both from and how long were your projects? @bookluver04 @PerksOfHim

Do they just read our abstract during the initial judging process?

@evalapply I’m not sure… where did you hear that?

Well, its been something that is said in various threads from the past years. Also, Siemens doesn’t really seem to have the manpower to grade 1800 projects in three weeks. Considering they are supposedly sent to “experts”, it is important to note that these guys have busy lives of their own.

Hey guys,
my paper is on materials science
I’m really worried because I forgot to include the title on my project. Do you think they will understand if I email them about it??

And good luck to everyone

@CoolestAsian I don’t think you should e-mail them. Someone from our school did and they sent a kinda mean e-mail and didn’t let them update it anyways.

Don’t worry too much though - I don’t think it matters that much. I have a minor typo in my project title >.<

@juju612 I am from NY and my project (not including abstract and references) was 16 pages, kinda long

I’m from DE (small and mighty). To my surprise, we had no semifinalists last year! My paper is approximately 6 pages long. It’s difficult to stretch research on ML.

I’m from MD. My project was like 14-15 pages. Looks like we’re all in the same region :stuck_out_tongue:

There are prob a lot of submissions from our region tbh. It is heavily populated.

lol I submitted to Siemens for my first time this year, but I’m having a hard time imagining what quality paper will qualify for semifinals

I submitted my project in the biology/bioengineering category. I am from TX and this is my first time submitting. My paper was the full 18 pages long rip :’)

2 more days. So nervous D;

anyone heard back yet?

Has anyone gotten a call regarding regional finals?

I think you get a call after semifinalists are announced
