nice, a day early.

yay more than 20 rickoids made it!!!!

rsi pride all the way!!

who else here made it? I was suprised i did!

Congratulations to abrandel05 and anyone else here who made it!

Static - there are 8 Caltech Rickoids. How many from MIT?

22 MIT rickoids

for a total of 30 rickoids out of 74 :)

Is semifinalist a big deal, or is it really only region and national finalists? How does semifinalist look on an app? Congrats to all!

frogman - Around 300 get to semifinals (out of 1200 or so who enter). Then maybe 90 get to regionals. Only 18 people (6 individuals and 6 teams) get to finals. So the further you get, the better it looks. But even entering alone shows initiative and may be worth mentioning, depending on what else you have to put on your app.

Congratulations to all who made it.

Congratulations to that guy in Texas--you know which one.

does anyone know if its "up to thirty" per region or for the country? my geuss is itd have to be per region because why would they go from 30 to 18, thatd be ridiculous, but im trying to get a sense of how many they pick per region.

there are six regions. Last year our region had something like 5 individuals and 5 teams, for a total of 15 people. Multiplying that by 6 is how I came up with 90, but it's just a ballpark. It may be too low. I just googled and found a reference to someone from Connecticut being "one of 31 regional finalists" last year. That would be something like 10 individuals and 10 teams from that region. If there were 30 from every region (180 total), that would mean over half the semifinalists advance, which seems too high. I couldn't find a complete list of them anywhere.

Wow People From New Mexico Got In, But Not A Single Person From Nj That's Amazing, No More Generalizations For Me..... Ever!

ya the thing on the site says "up to 30 individuals and 30 teams" but doesnt specificy how it works out per region. I live in NY so I would imagine my region's numbers are higher than some others; i believe TX was #1 and NY #2 in total semifinalists this year.

i count 332 semifinalists.

Anyone know how many from the Midwest typically advance to Regionals?

Anyone know about what percent of semifinalists have had their works published? What about regional and national finalists? Do you need to be of publication caliber to do well at the regional and national levels?

checked my mail like 10 minutes ago, got the letter today. It was dated Oct 20. Apparently we're also getting some package in a few days.

I got this from http://www.collegeboard.com/article/0,3868,6-30-0-34584,00.html#general

"How many Regional finalists are chosen?
From the Semifinalists, up to ten (five individual projects and up to five team projects in each of the six College Board geographic regions) projects will be selected to compete at the Regional Competitions."

wow.. not to be racist at all but does anyone else notice how suprisingly asian the list is. Merely an observation. Congratulations to all who made it. To those who made it on this forum what was your research?

Yea, i noticed that too, the list is very...East Asian/Indian...
