Adding graphs and figures to my paper right now. I am Bioengineering. (Hmm...that didn't turn out to be as hot a field as I thought.)

LaTeX!!
im doing cognitive science...

raise ur hand if u did it in word caus u thought latex was too confusing (me)

ummm....i haven't really tried it out that much

BUT, AoPS has a good reference guide and almost everybody knows how to use it there.

It is really not that big a of a deal.

Hmm...I find myself just doing graphs and illustrations in SigmaPlot, ChemDraw, and putting protein data bank structures into a random molecular viewer I found, and inserting them into Word. Maybe LaTeX could be of use to me...

Sagar,

Appx. 300 are semis, then 5 teams and 5 individuals per College Board Region (there are 6 of them) are selected to go compete at Regional Finals at one of the 6 partner universities. From each of these, one team and one individual is selected go to to Washington DC in December, where out of the 6 teams and 6 individuals, one team and one individual is selected as a winner. Both the regional and national competitions involve more than just a paper, as you have to give a presentation and stand for a very difficult Question and Answer session with the judges.

I'm doing computer science (algorithms), but really its operations research.

And anyone having trouble learning LaTeX should defniitely go to AoPS.

Hmmm... I've been talking with my bio dept head(she mentored the kids who won 1st place team Nationals last year), and it seems that I might have a shot at Semi's.. I hope!

I did it in Word too, haha

I finished my paper, but I still need to write the abstract! It never ends! Anyone know if I can mail it express-overnight tomorrow and if it will still reach them in time?

That's what I am doing. Going to Fedex it tomorrow for Next Day morning delivery with Saturday pickup, to make sure it arrives by noon Monday in Trenton. However to ensure that the pickup time has to be by 5PM tomorrow.

I used word... then converted it to a PDF.

Good luck sagar (hoping for RSI with this?).....

yeah you can use CutePDF to convert from word to PDF

Once again, it is possible to find this at AoPS

Yeah... maybe this will help for RSI. I want to emphasize to them that I designed and did the project w/o a mentor(got one for last week to edit). But really, this project has made me feel differently about a lof of stuff.

My school gives me full copies of Adobe Pro, so I used that to convert from word to PDF.

I really hope you get in sagar......

lol sr6622, are you from the MIT forums? I hope I get in, but I'm not worried, since there are like extremely slim chances, and no point worrying about it.

I am .... and using the new OpenOffice.org Release Candidate to boot!

Why use LaTeX when such a fast, reliable, open source typesetting tool such as OO.o Math is available?? I wonder .....

Wait .. why are we talking about RSI again? I should have applied for that ... good luck sagar....

Really just try it out. Beautiful interface, Export to PDF, WYSIWYG math typesetter that REALLY works

Hmm ..... who else here is competing in Physics and zoned for the UT-Austin Region? I want to know my enemy....

Just, for kicks .... who here has actually MET with one of the evaluators??
<raises hand=""></raises>

"Just, for kicks .... who here has actually MET with one of the evaluators??
<raises hand="">"</raises>

Show off! Lol, jk. What was he like? I always imagine them like a panel of Darth Vaders, reading the papers, and torching them off.

I think they will not just throw people out the windows for dumb stuff, like a grammar mistake, since most people worked months on this.
