<p>I know that the rule for calc is to go out to 3 decimal places. Does this rule apply to chemistry and physics also? or do you follow the standard sig figs rules?</p>
<p>Chemistry you have to work with sig sigs. Physics you do what you want.</p>
<p>Not true jpl. AP says they want 3 sig figs, however they will accept +/- 1 decimal place—in other words make sure you have atleast 2 decimal places and at most 4.</p>
<p>remember to round at the end, not in any steps before.</p>
