So, chances?

in at UF with honors.

why are you applying, when you're so qualified for better schools?

and ah! i've never met anyone else on cc who was doing mock trial. i did it for two years and it was amazing.

Lots of kids with these stats and higher go to UF.

consider UF a safety. good luck with the admissions process! i take it you'll be applying to several top schools

arilmada- i completely know that. i just don't understand why someone would want to pay OOS tuition (unless they get a scholarship, of course) for a school, when they can pay the same price for a better one. that's all.

A 3.5 unweighted from out of state is by no means a safety. Strong SAT's though, so you have a pretty good chance. IF you're NMSF you are definitely in.

you should be in, I have friends who got in with less. IF you're NMF though expect to get alot of perks, they're paying for everything for me, tuition, room and board, books, it's great. Plus registering early for classes and a few other little things are good bonuses.

gatordan, how are they paying for everything. daughter is NMF also and gets $5500/year for that and then 100% bright futures, which will cover most of room and board.

UF is, IMO, a good choice for OOS kids with good stats. You have to pay OOS tuition, sure, but even that is about 25 K cheaper per year than the good private schools (and even the bad private schools). If he's a NMF, which I don't know, so more the better. And the weather will be great! Frankly, so far as undergrad goes, you can get as far in UF as you could get in any other school in the country if you wish to. It's what you make of it.

So far as chances go, you look pretty good to me, but I don't know how OOS admissions are done. There are plenty OOS UF-ers on CC, though, so you may have a good fit.

I had a 3.6 uw OOS and a 33 ACT (w/ a 1390 SAT) and I got in. Your stats are about the same as mine, and you'll probably miss out on honors due to your gpa (like me).

But your EC's are much much better than mine, so you should be in no problem at all.

nmf is national merit finalist, right? no im not that

gpa wont keep you out of honors I don't think, I had a 3.6 gpa but I'm pretty sure honors is based on SAT scores (1400 min)

I'm also NMF though...

You need a UF weighted GPA of 4.0 for honors (not unweighted). UF calculates GPA without using pluses or minuses. They give you .5 extra weighting for honors and 1.0 for AP. So an A in a honors class is a 4.5, in an AP is a 5.0. A B, B+ or B- in a regular class is a 3.0. Any kind of B in an honors class is a 3.5 (4.0 in AP). Recalculate your GPA this way to see if you would get into honors.

ahhh, yeah I'm definitely above 4.0 weighted.
