So, I'm applying to:
Duke
Columbia
Stanford
Northwestern
Pomona
Boston U.
Carnegie Mellon
Indiana Bloomington
Purdue
Princeton

So, besides Indiana and Purdue, do I have a chance at any of these???

lexi :D

whoa are you kidding me? when i first read the title of the thread i thought you were gonna be someone with really bad scores and grades...i actually don't really know where exactly you would get in, but you look pretty good on paper and i'm sure you'll get in somewhere good & definately to some of the schools on your list.

i thought so too, until i started looking around here. These CC people are rather intimidating, actually ;)

Duke Accepted
Columbia Rejected
Stanford Rejected
Northwestern Accepted
Pomona Accepted
Boston U. Accepted
Carnegie Mellon Accepted
Indiana Bloomington Accepted
Purdue Accepted
Princeton Rejected

This list is based upon the pure opinion of myself

just my opinions but...

Duke- rejected
Columbia- rejected
Stanford- rejected
Northwestern- toss up
Pomona- toss up
Boston U.- accept
Carnegie Mellon- depends on what major but prob reject bc math scores not high enough
Indiana Bloomington- accept
Purdue- accept
Princeton- reject

what major are you applying for?

When you write "Ballet: 15/52" do you mean 15 hours per week, 52 weeks a year? If so, your hour commitments seem to be at least slightly exaggerated. Counting only ballet, piano, and tennis, you recorded about 6.5 hours a day on extracurriculurs, which barely seems possible, unless you are SUPER committed.

^ sorry, i should have mentioned. I don't do tennis anymore. I quit for ballet (I did specify that on my apps) I did tennis 9-11 and ballet 10-12. I only have ballet four-five days a week (long saturdays), and i practice piano daily.

I'm deffinitely NOT majoring in anything math or science related. I'm debating between English/Creative Writing/anthropology.

And thank you guys for your honest answers, because i really have no clue about these kind of things. None of my friends are really into...college.

If you have to ask, then probably not.

That's great. I don't have comments on your chances, though; just came in here to bust your chops a little. Anyway, good luck!

lol thanks ;)

Gospy... um. then what is the point of having a "what are my chances" forum...?

"::sigh:: Do I have a chance ANYWHERE?" It seems to me like you are looking for attention.

I'm not. I don't literally mean anywhere, because i obviously am pretty confidant about purdue and indiana.

I don't feel like I have a chance at any ivy leagues or similar schools because of my so so test scores. I don't have a hook, or any leadership positions, or anything special really. I don't know anything about who these schools let in.

I just wanted to know what other people thought. Sorry if my title was a little melodramatic.

Damn, I was hoping that this wasn't another "try to be humble, but it's just a ploy, what are my chances, I'm really trying hard not to boast but can't help it, however I have a cover--it's the title" threads. But I am let down again, I guess.

You must really take nothing for granted when you can be this superficially misleading.

um. excuse me. I'm sorry if it came off that way, but i am not 'pretending to be modest'. My SAT scores are not so good. A 660 isn't even in the range for a lot of colleges, and a 28 math/27 science aren't so hot either. Plus, my uw gpa doesn't rock so much.

I'm sorry if i came off that way, but i really just wanted to know. That's what applying to colleges does to you. Curiosity killed the cat, i guess.

Hey Pongo!

What high school do you go to? Just wondering.

Um, I don't really know much about any of those schools, but I think your stats are awesome. Also, on top of everything, I don't think you can base your chances on getting into most of those schools. I mean, they reason they're so prestigous is due to the fact that everyone wants to go there. But there are reallys awesome schools that offer awesome educations that people dont' really know about. So if you do get rejected, it's not b/c you suck or anything, but thousands of other studens with similar stats are applying there too.

Oh, and congrats on Bright Flight. Took the ACT again last Saturday because I wanted to get it really bad, but if you think your Science Seciton is bad, then you'd probably wipe your behind with mine! So yeah, it won't happen.

wow Gospy needs to be a little nicer on these forums, I've noticed. Gospy, people are stressed about college. It's natural. And sometimes people have pretty high standards that seem messed up to people like you or me. so when this person says "I have no chances!" they 1. probably want to attract attention to the thread and 2. think they have no chances to HYPS. And actually, that's a fair thing to say. This person doesn't have bad stats. She said, "Do I have a chance ANYWHERE (implied: ANYWHERE ivy?)" And I don't think she has a chance at Pton bc of the lowish Math SAT score. And by "having a chance" I don't mean "she has 0% chance of acceptance," what I mean is, "she probably won't be accepted."
So Gospy, play nice! I remember I posted my stats a few days ago and you went out of your way to comment "No SAT score posted? Not even going to bother calc'ing GPA out of that mess." There wasn't a need to do that, you could have just back-clicked your way out of the thread without calling my post "a mess" and a waste of time. Sorry if it seems as though I'm indicting your entire character. I just wanted to mention this. Thanks?

carnegie mellon- if you arnt doing a math major, then you probably dont really need this school but i guess its a mid-reach if math scores dnt matter much.
princeton - very very very far reach

why ddint you apply to any mid range schools like Tufts or Emory or Brandeis just to name a few? Or even lower ivy's like Cornell and Dartmouth would be not so crazy reaches.
