Sigh...what can a 3.0 to 3.2 get me now?

I was in the TAG program, and set to enroll into UCSD. As you may or may not have heard, UCSD has recently raised their GPA requirements to a 3.5. Did they have to brutally blind side us 2012'ers like that?

So, I'm screwed, and now i'm wondering what now? I'm located in San Diego, and a 3.1 was what I was able to obtain while working full time (and sometimes part time on top of school) so I could never completely focus in school.

Anyway, i'm wondering what schools I can still have a shot at with a gpa in the low 3's? I feel like there is nothing out there. Maybe University of San Diego?? Doubt it though.

Suggestions?

Mine is 3.0 :frowning: and I’m transferring from CC, I applied to almost all UC’s, Pepperdine, and some CSU’s. I got my acceptance letter from UC Riverside. So i guess you’ll get there, I’m not sure about others though… good luck

Arizona State University. They’ll accept you. They accepted me as a H.S. student with a 2.4 GPA.

By TAG do you mean high school Talented and Gifted? Also a high gpa counts but knowing a general SAT/ACT score is very helpful in determining school acceptance.

Do not put so much weight into not getting into one school that it makes you upset. Think of this as a better opportunity is out there that you just have not found yet.

Don’t completely give up hope. A lot of people get rejected by TAG and get in on normal acceptance. You have a chance, especially if your major isn’t impacted. And by the way, ucsd doesn’t honor tags like the other schools do. What I mean is SD doesn’t give tag much importance. I’m “tagged” for SD for 2011 but the letter is really ambiguous and doesn’t say a simple yes or no. Also, for those who don’t know, TAG is a transfer guarantee program from CA community colleges to UCs. Oh, also you could post in the UC transfer section if you need to clarify anything about SD! Good luck and I hope you get in next year :)

Thanks for the support guys. I was wondering what my southern cal options were first, but its nice knowing ASU is there just in case. Hehe.

I feel like I need to go shop for a new car with a 6000 dollar check…just nothing out there that would seem to accept me as a transfer.

Do any of you know any tricks to make it easier to transfer…like not applying for financial aid, or maybe choosing the easiest major possible? I just need to transfer the heck out of CC already.

I’ve got a 3.1 to work with, and that’s about it lol.

Did you try for SDSU? It’s too late to apply for fall but maybe for spring?

Do you go to Mira Costa

If you’re willing to go out of state, try FGCU and FAU.

Try a CSU? Their admissions requirements generally seem to be more lax than the UCs.
