hey everyone, so i just got a letter and invitation from sigma alpha lambda to join them. is anyone here a part of it? does anyone know about it? i'm contemplating whether or not to join and what it means to be invited

I get invited to these things all the time… they didn’t look like they could offer me anything, and I thought the application fee was WAY too high ($60 or higher… I forgot). Waste of time in my opinion.

D got one, too. There seem to be so many of these honors organizations sending things all the time…hopefully when a good one comes along we’ll be able to tell it from the scams.

^^^I’m starting to have these feelings, too. Son has been invited to some, but only one has actually had a meeting with an induction ceremony.

We signed him up for SAL, but just received the certificate and pin in the mail.

He just got invited to Golden Key, and although I feel better about that one, as it seems to actually have an on campus chapter, I too wonder how I’m going to be able to tell the real ones from the scam ones.

Son is an engineering major, so he won’t be eligible for Phi Beta Kappa, so I feel if he can get invited to an honors society, he should take advantage of it, as you never know if it will be the last invite you get.

Im a chapter president of SAL at University of North Texas and Its real, lol however it is a newer organization. Most of the chapters are very small and its hard to get information out regarding meetings and such.
