<p>I just got a letter inviting me to join the SAL national leadership and honors organization, based on my "outstanding academic achievement" that was not actually particularly outstanding. Is this a scam?</p>

<p>According to the website you have to be a sophomore to be admitted, and though I am entering my second year at Michigan I am definitely a senior.</p>
<p>I wouldn’t call it a “scam” per se… I also wouldn’t call it prone to add value to your academic/professional career… there are a ton of those Greek “honor” societies.</p>

the only foreign words/letters employers care about on your resume is cum laude/magna/summa … others dont matter</p>
