Sign Language?

I recently registered for classes at the local community college, and the only langauge that fits my schedule is sign language.

Is this seen as an "easy" class?

(Note: i'm also taking Latin online. Does this make a difference?)

I'm by no means an expert, but in my humble opinion, I wouldn't think that it would be seen as an easy class. Talking with your hands is so much different than talking outloud that many people probably couldn't handle it. If anything, it may be even harder, since its not even close to something you've been taught at birth. Good luck with it! I hope it goes well!

My daughter will be taking her third semester of sign (ASL) this fall. If you have a good teacher I think you'll find it to be fascinating. Contrary to what you might think, ASL isn't just "English spoken with gestures." It has a grammatical structure and linguistic conventions which are unique to it as a language, and there are cultural and historical features to ASL as well. I don't know how colleges will view it, but in IMHO it's both a practical and academically substantial course.

As long as your schedule is well-balanced, it shouldn't be a problem. Good luck! Learning ASL is not easy but it's a lot of fun.
