anyone else sign up for classes through ebear yet? i found it pretty confusing, all the english classes were closed, as well as quite a few philosophy courses…I don’t know if this means the classes are full, or if you’ll just have to talk to a teacher in person when you get there. anyway, here were my first three choices:

advanced french grammar
french 18th century literature
some intro environmental science class

my second choices were, I think, introductory latin, another intro environment class and francophone literature…gotta get that science out of the way.

anyone know how to wriggle into these classes? i can’t honestly believe all the english classes are shut…especially ones with lots of sections, like theory and chaucer…anyway, despite frustration/confusion, I’m pretty excited, especially for the French.

how about the rest of you?

wait, are you an incoming transfer for the fall? i thought we were supposed to register during orientation...maybe I'm totally wrong. If so, can you explain to me how to register? I went on ebear and when I clicked on registration it saids you can only register from january 12- 17 and tells me I am not eligible to register at this time.

Hi, I don't think it is exactly registration, but maybe preregistration? I know my old college let you sign up, or at least hold a place, for a few classes over the summer....it's with the advisor form that showed up a few days ago...go to New Students and you'll see the form...you need to fill out freshman seminar stuff (which I don't think we have to take) but then they have 6 places for course selection, your first three choices and then three backups....I imagine there is a lot of changing around, shuffling at the beginning of the year, so it's definitely not set in stone. I don't even know which credits they have accepted yet!

You probably didn't get this as a transfer student, but Barnard sent out a guide to "your first semester at Barnard" which listed a bunch of classes recommended for first-years. Those were the only choices on the eBear form because they didn't want us signing up for 3000 or 4000-level classes. I'm not sure how the whole transfer thing works (seeing as I'm a first-year), but you might email Dean Hollibaugh (the first-year Dean receiving all of the eBear forms) and ask her how you should fill it out (if at all). Her email: first-year@barnard.edu

thanks for the info guys

guys, i just got off the phone with the registrar and the person in charge of transfers and they all said, transfers register during orientation. I asked them about the pre registration form that you guys mentioned and they said there wasn't any... sarahtaq would you mind providing the direct link to the place where you reserved 6 spots for courses? so its like an online form you can submit? I went on the new students pg and all the have are pdf's and on ebear i'm not allowed to register so if you could clarify that be great..
thanks!
