What is a signed copy of tax return? Most schools require a signed copy of tax return.

I will make copies of 2013 return with our signatures on it. Do I have to copy and resign it somewhere before sending it to schools? Or a copy of it should be enough?

Our FAFSA was always selected for verification.
So while I had filed taxes & FAFSA online, I also mailed a hard copy of the 1040, W-2’s and forms, & signed the 1040.
Rather than keep a signed copy, I would keep an unsigned copy, so you can copy & sign as needed.

It just means a copy of your signed return.

We keep a hard copy of our tax returns that is signed as of the date of filing. I’m not sure there is any advantage to keeping an unsigned one (EK…that is to you).

Just make sure the paper returns you print have a written signature in the signature boxes. I would think this should be dates as of the date of filing.

If it were me I would do an original signature somewhere near the bottom of the copy even if there is a copied signature already there. It doesn’t hurt to do that.

^^ I like annonyingdad’s idea.

Also, I wouldn’t send anything such as W-2s that the school doesn’t explicitly ask for.

No you don’t even need an ink signature. The electronically signed pdf of the 1040 with all forms and schedules that you efiled from Turbotax is fine.

I have yet to have a financial aid office tell me that exactly what was filed with the Feds is not good enough for their purposes.
