Hey guys. Like the title says I signed up for two subject tests, but now have decided to only take two because I did not prepare for the third one and already received a 740 on a previous test date. So I know that I can leave after taking the first two, but I was wondering if I would receive a refund for not taking three (my guess would be no considering this is collegeboard we are talking about).

You won’t get a refund.

Haha yes. Don’t forget its the CB you’re dealing with. Expect no money refund nor any unwanted scores of 200 on your transcript.

If you take all 3 and you cancel, will it cancel all 3 or can you choose which to cancel?

Because then I would take all 3 and if I dont think I did well, cancel the one I dont think i did well on/didnt prepare for

^It will cancel all three unfortunately…so be wary of which ones you take.

Oh dang…but for score choice is it the same way? Do you have to send test dates?

I’m actually not completely sure, but I believe you send test dates. Someone correct me if i am wrong.

For score choice you choose individual subject tests(!!), no matter in what grouping you took them.

So if you’re not worrying about anti-score choice schools, take the 3.

also, for those schools that are anti-score choice… can they even see that you took the 3rd test or not…???

this is a big concern of mine cuz i dont feel im prepared enough for Math II (630s, ouch) and would rather take it in the fall, whereas my last US History practice was a 780 and my last Lit was a 740

hommerslippers-
Yeah, that’s the problem, one of my reaches is Princeton which I believe is anti-score choice, so i just figured why take a risk when a 740 isn’t going to kill me.

This is really bad for me…

my high school puts SATs on its transcript…I have the choice of removing but then I will only remove bad scores…

Thus for a college thats pro-score choice, when I put down my scores like 2290 SAT, they will be like “oh ok look it matches whats on his transcript”

But then for a school thats anti-score choice, I have to put down lets say 2290 SAT and 2000 SAT, they will be like “hmm on his HS transcript, it only shows the 2290, but when he reported it to us it says 2000 and 2290…was he being dishonest and removing scores off of transcript?”

On the other hand, if I DO NOT remove my bad scores, the colleges that are pro-score choice will be like “oh well he only told us 2290 SAT, but we see he also got a 2000 SAT”

cricket: ooh that’s a real Catch 22. Cuz you’ll wanna take it off the transcript for the pro score choice ones. But then you can’t make it different.
Perhaps what you should do, is remove BOTH of them from the transcript and have no SAT scores on it. Then they’ll just assume they should check the score reports or your self-reports on the app and the transcript won’t interfere.

Lexxxi: it’s an honor system right now. The College Board site’ll warn you that the college is anti-score choice and that you’re violating their preference, but then you can use score choice anyway. And they won’t see. It’s really weird…
But it’s better not to have to deal with it anyway, and not have using score choice when you weren’t supposed to hanging over your head the rest of your life. You should probably just skip Math II this time around if you think you could do better in the fall. And no, they won’t give you a 200.

[name]–yeah I agree with you. I would skip that one.

Time for me to study some Physics!

^yea thats what I was actually gonna do…that means ill have to remove everything-AP scores (which Ill have 11, possibly all 4-5s if im lucky)-that will be kinda bad because that actually confirms my AP scores (since they are self reported), ill also have to take off SAT IIs, PSAT…

I guess I can but it just that its going to be bothersome.

Oh…in that case, you should probably leave them all on, cept for the 2000. 11 APs!
Just explain to the anti-score choice schools that people at your school choose their scores for their transcripts. They understand that a lot of colleges embrace score choice so they’ll realize that why wouldn’t you use it? Just make sure to include that note. It’s not worth taking all that stuff off. Make it short and simple but be sure to mention why it’s not there, and again, they’ll understand that everyone at your school is using score choice on their transcripts.

FYI-- Princeton accepts Score Choice.
