Signing up for Upper Division classes Pass 1 -Under 90 units-

Hey All!,

Are students able to register for upper division courses (I heard they require a minimum of 90 units) during Pass 1 if they don’t officially have 90 units completed yet?

I have 73 units + 17 more AFTER this quarter = 90. My transcript won’t officially show 90 units until the grades are out at the end of Winter Quarter. **Would sisweb still count me as a “90-unit student” when I pick classes during Pass 1? **

I applied for transfer to UC Berkeley Fall 13’, and one of the requirements is finishing an upper division writing course equivalent to UWP 101, 104A-F, etc. I’m in a tricky situation because there is usually a slim-to-none chance of getting one of these courses during/after pass 2.

I hope someone has the answer to my question :)! Thanks!

I attend UCD, and you’re allowed to register for upper division courses once you meet the lower division prerequisites for the upper division courses you want to get into. And you’re considered to be at upper division standing once you reach 60 units, anyway, since that’s the minimum number of units required to be at junior standing. If in doubt, just try registering anyway, and if sisweb prevents you from registering for the upper div courses, then you will know. However, to my knowledge, you will have a later Pass 1 time than those who have accumulated more units than you, so that could negatively affect your chances in getting into a particular course (and UWP 101 is one of those courses that fill up really fast).
