Sometimes I can get 800 on the practice test.
There is usually one I can't get, which brings me to like a 780-790

However, I get one or two more wrong, and I KNOW HOW TO DO THE PROBLEMS WHEN I LOOK BACK ON THEM, its just I didn't do the math right. This brings me down to like a 750.

Is there some way to prevent this?

I used to do this too (in 8th-9th grade) and then for some reason I just stopped. I can’t really be sure what changed, but you should make sure you double check your answer by plugging it in (if applicable) and going over your thought process immediately after completing the problem for the first time - don’t wait until you complete the test to double check your answers.

Check your work either after you do each problem or after you finish the section. If you don’t have enough time, study more so you can do problems more quickly.

I’ve found my students are most vulnerable to careless mistakes on the medium difficulty questions - they don’t necessarily have an obvious answer like the easy ones, but they don’t always require lots of careful thought like the difficult ones. If you find an answer quickly on a medium difficulty, ALWAYS do a check of your work. Hopefully that will help you avoid some mistakes. Good luck.

This is kind of like personality or habit. You should focus on correcting it on ALL your school work. You will get better gradully. Shout at your self every time before you do any practice, homework or test.
