silly question

What kind of envelope are you (or your teachers) using to mail the rec letters? I gave my teachers a regular letter envelope so they could fold the letters and forms and mail it, did anyone use like a manila envelope so they didn't have to fold their forms or something. For some reason this thought crossed my mind just now with the deadline coming up it's natural for one to worry about minute things like this

I used a big orange one.

Then my guidance counselor probably put it in another big orange one.

But If you have a lot of things I seriously recommend getting this: YouTube - MacBook Air Parody. Even though you've already sent your things.

I used 9" x 12" manila envelopes for everything, but that was just because Stanford's website said to do that.

I doubt that MIT will throw your app away because it is in the wrong sized envelope. But if you really feel that strongly about it, get some bigger envelopes :)

MIT doesn't care. I gave my teachers 9X12 (even though i didn't apply to stanford) so less work (folding ) for them.
I also placed stamps on the envelops and attached 3 extra 17 cent stamps if they decides to put more than 7-8 sheets of paper in some of the envelops.
Including printing sticker mailing labels can be a big help for your teachers too. Less time they spend on like these trivia physical work, the more time they can put into your rec letter.

I think deadlines for teachers are a little bit more lose than for students since they probably had to write a number of recommendation letters and not all teachers are very organized. Can Mollie check this?

Please do not harass your teachers or counselors if you don't yet see a recommendation on the application tracking system. They will submit everything in due time, and we will have it processed in plenty of time to make decisions.

When we start reading, we begin with the applications that are the most complete. We will provide lots of time for delayed documents. We are happy to be flexible with individual circumstances.

And MIT doesn't care what kind of envelopes you use.
