Silverturtle's Approximations of PSAT Percentiles and SAT Concordances

silverturtle - I think you mentioned someone who had 3 perfect scores on the SAT. Is that true, and if so can you help me understand why anyone would repeat the SAT after achieving a 2400? I’m perplexed by that one…

^ He is a professional SAT tutor and takes it to keep up with the test.

Does the table apply for students who take the SAT just before the PSAT (i.e. taking both in October of Junior Year)?

^ It’s really just meant to provide a rough concordance for SAT scores and PSAT scores based on rarity. So if you did the same on the SAT as you did on the PSAT relative to the other test-takers, your score would in theory match the corresponding score.

Wow I got something like 180 and people thought I was literally a God at my school. Guess it doesn;t hurt haha

Psat - 205
sat - 2400

229 PSAT, 2400 SAT (as opposed to a 2330 projected score), only 2 months apart…Shame on you silverturtle for providing such misleading data! ;)

204 PSAT

2340 SAT

Eh.

a little off topic but what percentile do you need to qualify for the national merit scholarship?

^It varies by state. But I believe you need to be at or above the 99%-ile in your state to qualify. If you look through the forum, there are posts with compiled historical cutoffs for each state.

A little off for me: 230 PSAT, 2260 SAT. I guess that’s what I get for not studying lol

Hmmm. 207 on PSAT, then 2300 on the SAT. Weird, that. There was about 8 months between administrations, but it’s not like i studied or anything… DAMN IT if i had taken that PSAT more seriously i coulda been a semi-finalist :|

Bumping because I got a 235 and a 2380! I find this both hilarious and further proof that silverturtle has magical powers. XD

Hmm, not accurate for me I guess. 209 PSAT, but 2350 SAT

Sophomore PSAT: 209
Junior PSAT: 227
First SAT (the week after second PSAT): 2280
Second SAT (8 months later with only a few extra hours of studying): 2380

Sophomore PSAT: 189
Junior PSAT: 212
First SAT (five months after Junior PSAT): 1930
Second SAT (3 months later): 1950

I am a very large statistical anomaly. As in extreme. If I can hit 2200 in October, I’ll be thrilled.

Just wondering if we should add 2 points to our PSAT scores when using these charts, because the curve on the PSAT seems about two points harsher this year than last?

Junior PSAT: 140
Senior SAT: 2100

Dunno what happened…

226 PSAT but then only 2280 SAT :(. But I’m gonna retake for a 2400! wish me luck :)

221 PSAT and 2360 SAT! :D
