SilverTurtle's PDF Guide? How helpful?

I downloaded SilverTurtle's guide, and found it kinda helpful. Didn't read the WHOLE thing, but I get the picture for the most part. You?

^Seconded.

Lol yea. I’d give it a good rating for the most part. 4/5?

^ It is a good guide because it points out all the errors that can possibly be on the SAT.
Especially the grammar section.

Yesss! And I even like the links to SAT’s from the previous years and practice questions! Now I feel like I have a million practice sources LOL…like 30 practice tests. I’ve only done three in my BB so far, none from the Collegeboard Online Course, and now three more!

If you want tests just tell me. I have about 18 tests.silverturtles guide really is amazing, but I just feel that using it alone isnt ‘‘enough’’.

Nah, I’m good! As I said, I’m at an overload with practice tests, but thanks anyways :)

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOL I just did a small counting operation. Total number of test I have = 36

You have taken all of those tests? Or you just have them available? How many tests have you taken? What is your most recent score? Mine is ten points away from a 1900.

My recent score is 1870.
I only took 1 test(no psats)
tests remaining=35
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL.
Question: Is there enough time to finish them all before OCT 1 ?

I’ll give his grammar guide a sweet 5/5 (or 9/10). He would have gotten a 10/10 if he added more example and be less ambiguous.

His other parts, I could care less. Everything other then his grammar guide is not very helpful.

Do you mean more example sentences to illustrate the concepts or more practice problems specific to the test format? Which parts in particular did you find ambiguous?

Any suggestions?

I found silverturtle’s guide invaluable. If he published his guide, I would recommend his book to everyone.

Nevertheless, I relied on several other grammar books and workbooks for reinforcement of concepts and for extra practice.

You should never limit yourself to one source when studying for anything, whether it be an AP, SAT II, or the SAT itself :).

^ Well said. Truly wise words.

Ice, what do you mean by ‘‘You should never limit yourself to one source when studying for anything, whether it be an AP, SAT II, or the SAT itself .’’?

His grammar guide was invaluable and can never be praised to its merit, no matter how badly we try?

I never used to score 650+ in writing section but now I pretty comfortably score 700+ , i.e. frequently 740-760.

I recommend that you use more than one book when studying for anything. A second source is nice because of the simple fact that a second source is a second perspective. This is especially true for history.

Plus, a second source may emphasize something that you missed when reading the first source.

I studied for AP Euro using a multitude of books - the textbook, half a dozen of review books, etc. I’m glad I did. I was prepared for the exam. Maybe a little too prepared, but I’ll never know, and being over-prepared is not a bad thing ;).

Bottom line: Use more than one review book.

Isn’t silver turtle a woman?

^ I think a man.

I meant more example sentences to illustrate the concepts. I didn’t mean the practice problems because I can always get more in the BB and such. But you know when you went into the grammar section, for specific grammar errors you gave example sentences to show us how and why these errors are what they are? For most examples, you gave about 1 or 2 examples, but for some errors, there were none at all, so I was confused at some parts. It would be terrific if you can add a example for each error. Also, when I say ambiguous, I meant that in relation to the examples.

However, please be advised that I meant only a small section. So that is why I gave a near-perfect score rating of 9/10 and a 5/5. It is almost perfect, and I actually prefer/recommend your grammar guide over other test prep materials. It is simply the best I have seen ever. I actually only used this and the McGrawHill writing section (which I quit and am currently using yours). I am currently writing your whole section onto my notebook for easier use.

Sorry if I came out blunt, but what I ACTUALLY meant was the rest of the SAT section. NOT the rest of the guide. The math section wasn’t really helpful (I don’t blame you at all. You cannot really help us in that) and the Critical Reading section is almost the same, however, as many tips I read are what I read before (the usual). I can’t really give suggestions on those since I don’t blame you on either of those. They come with practice. That is why I said “I couldn’t care less about the other parts”, is only meant for the rest of the SAT section.

I found your tips/studies on the AP exams, and college admissions very helpful however. I found the AP exam section extremely helpful (the most helpful part after the grammar section). The percentages on how likely you are getting accepted to elite colleges when your score is closer to 800 and such are also great. I find those extremely helpful.
