As you can see almost all of my colleges are private and OOS. (with the exception of Rutgers- I live in NJ)
Most of these schools are not know for giving out a lot of financial aid and being of a higher income family i fit into the category where im too rich for fin aid but too poor for college (I also don’t want to be drowning in loans). Im looking for bigger universities that give out generous fin aid/OOS scholarships just in case I can’t afford any of these schools. (I really don’t want to go to Rutgers)

As of now I know can afford Rutgers. And maybe UMCP, Ohio and UFL taking out minimal loans to give you an idea of my affordability…

You may be too poor for private and out of state publics but your family can likely make it for Rutgers. While your stats are good they are not good enough for significant merit aid at the schools you list.

The UC’s give no aid to out of state students.

Take a look at University of Alabama.

I’m not sure how Univ of Florida would be affordable…I don’t see how most of the others would be affordable, either.

All the UCs will cost you $52k+ per year…

NYU will cost $70k per year.

Penn State will be about $50k per year.

Your list seems out of whack.

Do you know how much Maryland or OSU would give you?

If you don’t want Rutgers, then that can’t be your safety.

WHERE are your financial safeties???

HOW can you have Penn State as a safety if your parents won’t pay the $50k to go there???

How much will your parents pay each year? Ask them, please don’t guess.

YOU can only borrow $5,500 for freshman year. That’s not going to pay for much. UFlorida is about $45k+ per year for OOS. If your parents wont pay for it, who will?

You need a new list.

My parents can pay about 45k per year with money saved up. I am fully aware that I cant afford any of the privates on my list. Penn state is more of a safety admission wise but i know financially its a reach. I’m considering all colleges expecting no aid of scholarships. I know rutgers is my only financial safety atm( hence why I am asking for help). I will probably add stony brook and tcnj to this list.

There is a nice thread pinned at the top of the Financial Aid Forum that has links to other threads on merit-based aid. Follow those links and read everything.

@ishkundu what is your best score for math and critical reading in a single seating/test score? And what is your class rank? Depending on your answers you may be able to get considerable merit aid at Ohio State, Alabama and Temple. Checkout each of these school’s websites for info on their merit aid scholarships.

my m+cr score is a 1420. My high school does not share rank but if it did I am sure that I would at least be in the top 25%. I did consider Temple and you are the 2nd person to say Alabama so I will check that out. Thank You!

You could get 10K to Temple bc of your low GPA no full tuition, but University of NC charlotte has a competitive scholarship and you can get 4k to Rutgers
