What are some similar schools of W&L?
In terms of area (not that important), kind of social scene, atmosphere, academic quality etc.

People will tell you Davidson is very much like W&L, but the similiarities are moreso in regards to size, academics, and the fact that both schools are in the South than anything else. The social scenes are virtually non-comparable. (W&L being highly greek and fun; Davidson being boring)

W&L is definitely unique. No colleges are too similar, but I'd say check out UVA, Middlebury, Colgate, Hamilton, Vanderbilt, Sewanee and Dartmouth.

Woah, Davidson?! I would have never thought that.

Are there any colleges like W&L that arent as selective as the ones you metioned? Some colleges that would make good safety schools?

Sewanee would probably be the most similar next tier school.

gottastayfly--description of Davidson is spot on. Boring. Even tho it's near Charlotte, it's boring. Day and Night of the Living Dead.

Gettysburg is another lower-tier school that you should take a look at.

U of Va is similar party/greek school/ If in state, easier than W&L to get in.

University of Richmond is a little bit bigger but not too big. It gets a lot of cross-applicants with W&L.

Yeah I applied to Richmond too. Read my post in the other thread "Chances? Would I even like it?"... Davidson may be "boring" to some people but I know people who love it there. And W&L is actually very freaking boring after your fall term freshman year... I don't see anything more boring than the completely narrow-minded track of studying and partying that most W&L students seem to do. I do plenty of both, but I like to do other things as well. Concerts, etc.

oooh morgan.... sounds like I got outta there just in time, eh?
