Tulane. Rice. Emory. Vanderbilt. For a start.

haha, what about some less competitive schools? w&m is my reach

Wake Forest (Winston-Salem, NC)
Davidson (Davidson, NC)
Baylor (Waco, TX)
Christopher Newport (Newport News, VA) *used to be part of W&M
Elon (Elon, NC)
Berea (Berea, KY)
Washingon & Lee (Lexington, VA)
College of Charleston (Charleston, SC)
Clemson (Clemson, SC)
Mississippi College (Clinton, MS)
Middle Tennessee State (Murfreesboro, TN)

just a couple suggestions.... :)

thanks for the replies...college searching is annoying

an overlooked school that is similar in feel but much less competitive tasn W&M would be UNC Asheville. Similar in size and a more liberal arts than most state schools.

Davidson and Wake Forest would be as competitive as W&M (Davidson probably moreso). I agree about Elon and UNC-Asheville, though, and they would both be easier admits.

Another possibillity is South Carolina.

Some suggestions of places to try (several of these were already mentioned by other posters)....

More competitive than W&M: Duke University (NC), Rice University (TX)

Similar in level to W&M: Emory University (GA), Vanderbilt University (TN), Tulane University (LA), Wake Forest University (NC)

Less competitive than W&M: Elon University (NC), University of Richmond (VA), Furman University (SC), Mississippi College (MS), Loyola University-New Orleans (LA), College of Charleston (SC), Belmont University (TN)

OP, what exactly do you mean by nerdish? A lot of the schools posters have mentioned are definitely not nerdish imo.

Duke, Rice, Wake <--- three top schools in the South, medium sized
