Simmons Scholar Case Competition?

I was wondering if anyone else is doing this competition for URochester by any chance.

I might be. I’m still writing the essays. How long are they supposed to be?

I did. When do we hear back, anyone know?

I heard back today…does anyone know any information on how competitive this process is? I am wondering how many people are chosen and how many get the award…If anybody knows ,please respond.

Congratulations on getting accepted into the competition. I too got accepted and have many of the same questions as you. I feel like they have been vary vague about the competition. Also what does this mean as far as our admission decision for Rochester? Supposedly they are releasing priority decision reviews before or on February 15th. Sooo, could I possibly be denied admission two days before the competition? What do you or others think?

Ha ha…wouldn’t that be something…not to get accepted ,but be invited to this competition. So many unanswered questions…just would like to know how many people tried for this competition, how many will be there and how many teams can ultimately win…if it’s only one team that can win, how many individuals make up a team? Wish I knew more. Thanks for your reply
I agree about the acceptance. It would be unusual not to know whether we are accepted to the school in advance of this competition… Oh well, I just I will just move with along with this process.

Has anyone received the case study email?

No I have not. I am hoping tomorrow I will receive an email. If you do not mind me asking what are yours stats? Do you know how many people are competing?

I have heard tomorrow as well. I don’t know how many people are competing or how selective this competition is. Do you know of any other acceptances?

My stats:
ACT: 35
GPA: 4.79 weighted out of 4.5

How about you?

Mine are SAT 2080 and 3.8 gpa unweighted. What do you think about the status of our general admission to Rochester. I find it weird to be a finalist but still possibly be denied??? Seems strange to me.

What step are you on? Are you PR or regular?

I have been doing a lot of research on admissions decisions. What I have gathered is that a select pool of decisions go out in February, with other decisions coming out in waves. However, this information could be outdated.

It is quite odd!

I am PR and on stage 4. My application jumped from stage 2 to 4 on monday so I was kinda expecting that I would know when they released the decisions for this case competition. Somewhere I read they released them the 15th of February last year. That is cutting it pretty close to the competition if you ask me. Have you ever done one of these before? This is my first time.

My situation is even weirder. I’m applying regular, but I’m on step 4. Puzzling?

I feel as though they wouldn’t deny you admissions and then make you compete for the scholarship though. It’s definitely an odd process.

I’m pretty new at this too! How many people do you think are participating?

Huh, that is weird. I don’t know how many people are competing, how many scholarships there are ect. Hopefully with that secondary email many of our questions will be answered.

Anyone get the email?

Yah I did. Looks interesting

Definitely makes me excited!

Tyler - it’s kind of a tough approach to have such a big scholarship riding on a team competition. Can you explain how the university will be judging the students individually within the context of the team competition?
