Do you guys think they will cancel because of covid
@HsStressed I would say it is likely but not for sure. Also, would you mind telling me the deadline for accepting the offer of admission?
RSI has canceled. I don’t see how Simons can continue.
Are the programs interdependent?
Not at all. But one sets a precedent that is difficult to ignore, especially in a lawsuit happy country like the USA.
Has nothing to do with “lawsuits.” Has to do with dorm availability (they are looking like all will be closed) and research availability (whether labs will be back functioning again by that time. MIT has shut down living spaces so they cannot host RSI. Simons is only partially residential… the housing is arranged independent of the program and many participants are commuters. So it may be different
If you really think it has nothing to do with lawsuits, you really don’t know how corporations think. And given that my son has already attended Simons, I understand the housing situation quite well.
I have had 2 siblings attend. We are very familiar with the program. It has to do with housing availability and lab availability.
@soflowatcher it was March 20th
@hebegebe was right; Simons was cancelled
what? Did you recive a email?
This is very upsetting…
Are all summer programs cancelled then? Or just some?
@HsStressed what was March 20? Not sure what question you are answering?
any of you guys who were accepted are you guys still planning on conducting independent research with your professors and coordinating with them? If so how have you gone about this, I want to but don’t know how to approach my mentor because I’m sure he has other priorities during COVID
@symere I wanted to also, but the universities do not allow anyone besides the professors working there to be involved, so students would not be able to wor with them.
hey do you have ur simon’s summer research program essays? I’m applying this year and it would be amazing to have something to look off of. Thanks.
