I haven't recieve any email yet... uh oh
how do you know the professor doesn't like Intel science competitions? did he tell you?

I am also a little worried now

Well the professor called me and spoke for nearly an hour. Very nice guy, very intelligent - I would love to work with him. However when we started talking about Intel he said he thought science competitions put too much pressure on kids like us, and detracts from the experience. He basically wants me to enjoy the summer, not have expectations of submitting to Intel (especially since it's a rodent laboratory, and apparently Intel has problems with that kind of research.)

The woman who directs the program did say that she was notifying me "in advance" so maybe there are still spots open. Nothing is really set in stone until the people who were originally accepted find laboratories to work in.

I go to a boarding school and now I'm on break....
so there's a chance they called me but I couldn't answer :(

The guy who called me, called only after I gave him my number. The whole process is that you get accepted and get notification through e-mail. In that email, you're told of any professors who have read your application and are interested in working with you. Then you talk to them and see if you are interested. If not, you can find someone on your own.

From what I've seen, the rejection letters were sent through the post whereas acceptance letters were sent through e-mail.

you mean, u know other ppl who applied to Simons?

uh, oh...hopefully when I get back to the US (in a few days) I wont recieve Simon's mail ;)

Yeah, my school nominated 3 people this year. The 2 people who got rejected got letters in the post, but no e-mail.

do u wanna talk on AIM? u seem to replying fast! :)

I got in Friday. I just got a letter in the mail, no email. The other kids from my school that got their rejection letters in the mail, got them a lot earlier than my acceptance letter.

I was also straight up assigned a professor, no choosing involved :)

congrats
Where do u live (NY?)
Also, what program did you get into?

Thanks

Oh my god! Gebrselassie! Are you dorming or are you commuting? If it's the former, we might be roomies haha.

If you haven't received acceptances yet, there is still hope.
For 8 of you, that is.

I am commuting.

still waiting patiently

Out of curiosity, has anyone applied to both RSI and Simons Summer Science Program? Thank you for your reply.

I am still waiting too.
Just curious, how many people will dorm?

It would be hart to tell. I heard not too many, and you can see from the site most are from school on LI, but some people from LI would still need to dorm. I'd guess something a little less than 1/4, but who am I to gauge.

I got in!
I'm dorming!

who else is dorming here??

Yay! I'm going to be dorming too (even though I live close to Stony Brook.) I want to get the whole experience, y'know? Not to mention.. it'll be nice to be away from home.

still havent gotten a response (besides the 'we are looking for a mentor' email), but if i go ill almost definitely dorm, though there's a chance I might get an apartment with a friend, but that's unlikely.
