Simple, but urgent question regarding the CommonApp

Hi,
I've submitted my CommonApp, along with the supplements, and the payment online. My status says submitted, complete, etc. I also received an email confirming the same.
My school forms are gonna be complete in 1-2 days, but I've given the names of the officials.
Now, what next?
I wanted to check my application status at each college's website, but I need a username/pass: where do I get mine (email, etc.)?
Like, I've sent my SAT scores, my transcripts, financial docs via mail, but how do I check if they've reached the colleges at all?
Do I have to wait until it says 'Downloaded' on the CommonApp?
If it makes any difference, I'm an international applicant.

Thanks In advance.

It would depend on the school. My daughter has 5 applications out there, and none gave her a username/password to check on status. What she did get from a couple of schools were kindly reminders that parts of the application was missing (though, it was never true, and always easy to straighten out)

You will be able to see, from the CA, when schools download parts of your application. If you want to know about other parts, you can call them and ask. People do it all the time.

^Thanks a lot, anotherparent.
That really sucks though, cause I’m gonna have to shell out a lot on International Phone Calls. :frowning:
1 More Question, Should I include my CommonApp ID (apart from the name) on each packet I mail them, so that they’ll find it easier to identify me?

Yes. You must include your Common App ID on anything you send them. But, you should give it a few days before you try to call any of the schools. Usually, they send out an email to you with a link to their applicant system. They usually also provide information about interviews, etc. (At least that is what my D experienced). Also, keep in mind that because of the Christmas holidays, a lot of the admissions offices are either closed or using a skeleton crew so it may take a little longer than usual for them to contact you.

^Thanks dignified1 and anotherparent, for the quick reply.
Cleared all my doubts. :)

If you cannot find a way to make a cheap phone call, try email first. Have you tried skype or Gmail phone. It is worth looking into this, so when you are in the US, you will be able to connect with friends and family back home. I know it costs money if you are calling out of country, but it is still quite cheap.
