I’m really struggling with finding a good match school I like, so can you simply tell me if GT Early Action would be a good match for me, and if you could provide insight to the aid I would or would not receive, I would be appreciative.
SAT (M,CR,W): 2350 (780,780,790) (2330 one sitting)
ACT 35 Composite (34 English; 35 rest, one sitting)
SAT II: 800 Math II and Physics
GPA: ~93.5/100, straight As since 10th grade, and lowest grade ever being an 89.
Extracurricular: fairly standard, I have tutored an autistic family friend on a regular schedule for free and for over 4 years, I raised 1,000 books for a book drive, a few regional math competitions (first in class), normal ECs otherwise.
Income: 100K flat
Thank you!
Standardized test scores are terrific, but (1) what are your AP/IB scores, and (2) what do you want to study?
Thank you, my school does not offer IB, and my APs are rough. I’ve heard colleges do not consider them, so I feel better, but: APUSH 3, AP Physics 3 (yikes), AP English 4, AP Psych 5. I’m taking AP Gov, AP Stats, AP BC Calc, AP Physics C, AP English 12, AP Spanish, and AP Eco this year. I got a 97 overall in physics for the class, and the 800 I hope will balance it out since it was taken after the AP exam. I plan on majoring in computer science (not a class offered at my school)
Go ahead and apply to GT EA if this is your dream school. Make sure you write a thoughtful statement of purpose and explain what got you interested in CS in the first place and why you are choosing CS as a major. Indicate an interest in research and graduate study. Have your essays proofread, send off your application, and expect a nice result.
I think you will get in regardless if EA or RD. Apply EA just in case.
That’s good to hear. Thank you both
Georgia Tech should be a match for you. Apply EA to boost your chances even more.
Looks like a good match academically, but don’t expect a lot of financial aid if you are OOS. In-state students admitted to Ga Tech get free tuition for the most part through state programs for top students, but OOS will probably be limited to the usual financial aid that maxes out at around $7,500/year or so. Check to see if there are any scholarships you can apply for just in case.
@mommyrocks I expected around $7,000 after using the online calculators. I’ll check for scholarships though, thanks.
