My math section is plagued with simple mistakes. Even though I finish it with 5 minutes left to review, I always miss one or two per section because I read x is 1/5 y not 1/5 of x is y.

Its the only thing thats stopping me from getting a good score on math. How do you prevent these mistakes, especially during the actual test because im taking the jan one.

Check each question as you go. Once you finish a question, quickly read it again and plug in numbers in the calc. It helped me more than going back at the end. Even with the checking while I go, I still have a few minutes at the end to go over everything again. Also, the more you practice, the more you will start to notice subtitles in the questions and follow them.

Practice first. Also, as drac313 said, check as you go. That way you don’t have to come back to that question and check it. Read the question a couple times and highlight key words. Look at the answer and make sure it makes sense. For example if it asked 1/5 of 20 is ? and you read 20 is 1/5 of ?, you will get 100. After you finish the problem, reread the question, and it should popout that you did something wrong.
Also I know you said this, but just pace yourself.
:)

^Thanks guys. Those seem like good strategies. Taking off a couple seconds for each problem to make sure is better than reviewing it way later like I usually do.

Yeah again there’s really nothing new, but TAKE YOUR TIME.
I got a 720 the first time all because of stupid errors. I easily got an 800 my 2nd time.

I think the biggest problem for me was my ego. I finished the math sections in about 12-14 minutes and checked over only the hardest problems. I usually got the easy questions wrong because I went through them too fast. Now what I do is read the questions slower and more carefully and I check all the questions on the page I just finished before going on to the next.
