Yeaaaa. I'm a sophomore right now, will be a junior next year. I've done basic Chem and Bio already. I don't really have "strengths" in either, just a semi-interest. Should I do Physics to round out my background or Chem ... for some other reason?

Thanks guys (:

AP Physics without hon physics? Good luck with that.

Is it Physics B or C? B needs you to be studying at least precalc and C requires Calculus.

AP Chemistry for sure

I took AP Physics B junior year without taking physics honors because it was a requirement to take Physics C, which I wanted to take senior year. If you want to take Physics B & C and your school makes you take B before C, then take Physics B junior year. If you are good at math and science you will be fine in AP Physics without physics honors.

If you don’t need to take it in order to take the next level afterwards, just take AP Chem next year and take AP Physics senior year. If you’re not particularly interested in/good at science, you can just take physics honors in place of AP physics, either year. There’s nothing wrong with honors and it’s a much easier class, while still covering all the basics you’d need to take college physics.

AP chem because it is a much more interesting class IMO.

I took AP Physics without any prior knowledge sophomore year

From what I hear, AP Chem exam is WAYY harder than AP Physics.

Go for Physics - it might have a lot more topics, but I found it relatively easy.

AP physics is so much easier if you have a background in it. Take AP chem.

I did Physics B as a sophomore with no prior Physics knowledge. It wasn’t much harder than my Honors Chem class (taught by the AP teacher at almost an AP level). This past year (junior year), I did AP Chem and Physics C together, and they were about even in difficulty.

I feel as though Physics requires more math/logic while Chemistry needs more conceptual understanding (though concepts are a big part of Physics, too). Take your pick.

Thanks for your responses guys. (I’m so slow at this, ugh). Either way, I’m not going to have a background in Physics. My reasoning, though perhaps illogical, is that I’m going to need a “full background” of the sciences before I applied to college (Bio, Chem, Physics), which was why I selected Physics. I’m certain it’s Physics B that’s being taught at my school.

I took both this year. Both classes were hard, but AP Chem was easier because I’m so much better at it. Physics just doesn’t fly with me. Then again, AP classes vary from school to school.

Basically, it depends on whatever you’re better at. Physics, you kinda are either good at it or not.
