Simple question bout College apps

Sorry, but I am very uninformed about the college application process. Now, I am aware that there is a COMMON Application, and so, does that mean we fill out that common application for each college that we plan to apply for? Or do colleges have an individual application for us to fill out?

Thanks in advance!

Simply put: Not ALL colleges use the common application. For those that do you fill it all out ONCE and send it to each college that accepts CA. However, many colleges that use the CA also have a supplement which is accessible through the CA website. These are generally unique to the college (unique essay prompts or different requirements like an art supplement) and obviously those only get sent to the college that it is a supplement for. For every OTHER college that doesn't use the CA you have to download their application and fill that out separately along with any supplements they also require.

Hope this helps! Personally I love the CA, used it for 6 of the 10 schools I applied to :D

The Common Application https://www.commonapp.org/CommonApp/default.aspx is used by over 300 (mostly private, some public) colleges and universities. Go to their website to check if your choices are their members. It allows you to fill out a single application and submit it to several different schools. It does allow you to customize each one if you choose to do so.

I see that you have asked about the UCs. The UC system does not use the Common Application - they have their own application at: University of California - Admissions . You use this single application to apply to all of the UCs.

You have also asked about USC. They do not use the Common Application. The USC application can be found here: https://camel.usc.edu/admapp/Default.asp

Many other colleges and universities (there are over 2,000 in the US, so you can see that the above applications are just a beginning) have their own applications which can be found on their websites.

Good luck!

thank you guys
