Simple Question

Does a college essay have to be completely in essay-like prose?

I remember reading 50 College Essays that Worked and seeing a bunch of essays in the styles of recipes, plays, or letters.

I was thinking about framing my college essay as a time schedule, and I was wondering if this was allowed.

The essay can bear a different format. However, make sure that the format chosen in some way reveals you, fits you.

For example, if someone never wrote poetry, does not enjoy poetry, then trying to put an essay in poetic form is not going to be genuine to the writer, is likely to come across as a gimmick, and imo is unlikely to make for a successful essay.
