I know that FAFSA starts Jan 1, but are there any forms to fill out before that date? Also, since most fills it out in Jan. or early Feb., does that mean that I have to do financial aid forms for schools that i didn't get a decision for yet?

Whats your question exactly?

The FAFSA starts Jan 1, but usually you include recent information from tax returns so most people don't sen it until mid-Feb to March.

Also, you can fill out the FAFSA prior to the 1st, but you just can't send it until then. I'm not exactly sure but I believe you can fill out the forms prior to. You just can't submit it until the 1st.

Look also at the school's financial aid website. You may qualify for certain scholarships that have seperate requirements and a seperate application that may be due in Nov or December.

If you are doing FAFSA online (the most efficient way) you cannot start it before Jan 1st. But you can do some prep work such as apply for the PINs - you need 1 for the student and 1 for a parent so you can sign it online once complete, get together the information you need etc.

Make sure you go to the correct web site FAFSA - Free Application for Federal Student Aid
It is the FREE application - if you are asked to pay you are at the wrong site.

Some schools also require CSS/profile which may have to be submitted earlier.

And yes on FAFSA you can list all the schools you have applied to. if you are not accepted at a particular school they will just not proceed with calculating any aid.
