simply what are my chances?

GPA:
unweighted- 3.16 weighted- 3.55

SAT score:

reasoning- 1790
subject (math IIC)- 620
(language)- 800

what are my chances of getting into NYU?
and what are some reasonable schools that i could apply to?

Can you provide my information about your ECs and your courseload? Your SAT I score is below 25th percentile for NYU so you should brush up on that. Are you taking any APs?

certainly, i have taken 10 AP courses all throughout high school including few honors classes. my courseload is rigorous.

i have been a v.p of both american heart association and science olympiad.
i was in band for a year, playing flute, and was a member of kiwin’s club.

what is a reasonable SAT score for NYU?

i went to NYU website and they said the average SAT score for last year was from 1300-1450.

also, should i try to retake my math subject test in december?

I’d say if you can do better in your Math IIc test, by all means =).

Here is what collegeboard’s data says about NYU applicants who were successful (from 25th percentile to 75th percentile):
SAT Critical Reading: 600 - 700 92%
SAT Math: 610 - 710 92%
SAT Writing: 600 - 700 92%
ACT Composite: 27 - 31 8%

So, I’d suppose a 2000/2400 should be nice.

thank you very much.
i’ll try to do my best on the SATs.
meanwhile, what do you think about my GPA?
supposely, i have some chances with the SAT
but, as a senior, there’s only so much i can do about my GPA.

what are some things i can do for my GPA?

Too late now to do anything about GPA, really.

would my first semester gpa help any?

i’ve been wondering the same thing!

it does irritate me that my SAT scores are good enough to get into decent schools but my chances are reduced by my gpa…
does anyone know if senior gpa will help??

i would imagine, senior gpa will not help too much, i mean u cant expect to jump from a 3.16uw, to a 3.7uw, or something like that from just 1 progress report you know what im trying to say?

yes, i do, but i guess i was asking more on the level of improving.
i heard colleges like to improvements in grade, and
sometimes they consider that more important than maintaining straight As all throughout high school.
what can you say about that?

for the UC’s, they dont even care about your senior year transcript until the END of your senior year. By then, you’d have already received your letters of admission by a few months, so for UC’s, your gpa is basically 10-11.

idunno about other colleges tho. you might want to confirm your question with your counselor or something before you get your hopes up too high.
