and I just went back and read this…
• The list of accepted students will be posted on our website at simr.stanford.edu in the evening of April 2, 2010. We will email all the accepted students as well on that date.
I guess only the accepted got an email

I got in!! YES! But I’m thinking of declining my acceptance because my parents don’t seem to want me to attend anymore. I’m at such a loss on what to do.

Just a question for both fairlights and forblueskies… where in CA do both of you live and how are you commuting to and from the site? Any of you using public transportation?

From what I read somewhere else in CC, you usually have to get there by 8 AM and you go home at 6 PM.

Lemonesque - Congrats on your acceptance! Hope you will be able to go. I actually live in the East Bay. My mom has a friend in Palo Alto who may be able to let me live in her house for the duration of the program. From there, I’ll probably either be taking the bus or walking (depending on how far away she lives from campus).

17miles - I got an email a couple of days ago as well.

I think they have accepted some students from other states and a handful from other countries in past years. The majority of interns are Californian because most applicants live in California.

I’m absolutely ecstatic about this fantastic opportunity. They sent me an email the evening of March 31st.

potentenum, yeah, most applicants live in the silicon valley because of its close proximity to the Stanford campus. Personally, I live in Saratoga, CA (west silicon valley?)

I wonder when the list will be updated on their website.

daahi - i used to live in Saratoga! i moved 6 years ago to India though. i didn’t get an acceptance email so i guess i didn’t get in i applied to a couple other internships though so hopefully i get one of those.

sorry dude. i would just stress the fact that from the list that i saw on their website, and from knowledge of past participants, they want people with like cultural diversity, a cultural aspect that is unique to you and you only.
