SIMR 2012 -- Stanford Inst. of Med. Summer Research Program

lol some people are getting worked up a select few got to know they were accepted early, followed by an email. Everyone else got an email only, whether or not they were accepted.

So, do you mean that acceptees may or may not receive a phone call before April 13th?

hopefully it will happen again

Yeah, on last year’s thread some kids found out a few days early, but kids were finding out all the way up until the acceptance date.

Does anyone know who directs this program? Is it still Dr. Utz?

Any seniors applying? I decided to apply just for the heck of it because my college essays pretty much fit their prompts lol

I sent my first SAT scores to the email address on the website. It was the March one and i sent it in the morning i got it. But i haven’t got a confirmation email that they got my email…

Does that mean they don’t care about SAT scores at that point(March 29) or do they normally not reply at all?

look above in thread you may have shot urself in the foot

@ busterbeetle whats the prompts for stanford?

it specifically says in the word document

• Announcement of accepted students (APRIL 13, 2012): We will email all students by April 13, 2012 regarding the status of their application. As a courtesy, please DO NOT call or email us regarding the status of your application prior to that date and please do not ask for a second review. If you do not receive an email by mid- April, please email us:

But I have an important update, because i’ve never taken the SAT before and they recommend that we submit our SAT scores

and yes i have read the thread above before i wrote my post
it seems like a lot of people are misguided in a way that ANY email sent to SIMR is considered rude or intrusive, which is complete not true.

i guess at that point it would matter what ur score was if it was really good ( remember the competition–2400s were rejected ) then it may not harm u. but they probably already have gone through the maj of applications and rejected the maj of us…

Exactly 1 more week guys! I’m kinda flipping out here.

I actually have a pretty significant update, but I haven’t emailed SIMR because I didn’t want to get kicked. So… should I email them?

“whats the prompts for stanford?”

@Sharingan100:
there were quite a few short takes (which books were your fav., what events you liked most during the last 2 years etc).
The short essays were: What matters to you most and why, Write a letter to your roommate, and Reflect on an idea or experience that has been important to your intellectual development. To all Stanford class of 2017 applicants on this thread: START YOUR ESSAYS EARLY!!! This is the first time you write essays of this type and will take several tries to get it right.

Thank You this helps a lot as I suck at essays. I tried looking at the application, but I wasn’t able to :(

Yea Stanford’s common app doesn’t go public until August I believe. But this might be helpful: [Essays : Stanford University](<a href=“Page Not Found : Stanford University”>Page Not Found : Stanford University)

Any ideas about what to talk about for the letter to the roommate one? Just what kind of person you are? The stuff you are interested in? A very interesting anecdote about your summer doing research in stanford (lol, I hope that’s what mine is about)?

it really is a relief when u see people having the same problems as u :)

^I SO AGREE. You guys were such a lifeline during that long Jackson wait.

Sorry for sounding ignorant but what are you talking you?
