SIMR at stanford, (formerly CCIS)

Hey all. I'm applying to the biomedical research internship at stanford for the summer. I'm a junior and I must say, my grades look great, and when it comes to science, i think i'm pretty high up there. I'm doing a small project for a top dog at UCSF (i happen to know her, LOL) so with that as well as my grades, my application looks pretty nice.

However, the app. asks for any test scores for any tests that i have taken. I only took the SAT in January and my scores wont be availiable by the time i'm planning to send the application. So all i have in terms of test scores is the PSAT, and honestly, i wouldnt advertise that if i didnt have to (all juniors take it, so it would seem weird if i claimed i hadnt taken it). I got 195 on the PSAT, which was this year in the 95th percentile, so its not terrible. I think it was a little harder than in previous years, thats why a measly 195 got me in the 95th percentile, maybe ill even be a commended student (wont get my hopes up). I just have a feeling that they wont like a score thats probably a bit lower than their usual interns. If anyone here is familiar with stanford's SIMR, i want to know what types of scores the usual interns need and if a 195 is a huge black mark on my application. All those newspaper articles about SIMR interns are always like "oh and these high schoolers have to have stellar grades and test scores...." and 95 percentile isnt exactly stellar.

I dont like to think that im being evaluated by means of a psat/sat score for this type of program. Whatever those tests prove, they dont prove that you can or cant learn advanced science and work in a lab well. I would have thought they would weight science grades and science teacher letter of recommendation much more heavily, cuz that really shows how good of a scientist youll make, not whether you can answer a billion questions in a small ammount of time and get them right. I feel very confident about the rest of my application, i have lots going for me and im from a public school (they try to get more people from public schools). But if anyone has had experience with this program, is a 195 an acceptable score, or am i sort of automatically out of running because i was sick and tired at 8am on october 15, 2008?
