Sinai Program

Hello everybody,

I'm new to this forum and this is my first post. I was wondering if any of you knew anybody who had applied to Mount Sinai's HuMed program (now the FlexMed program) and their profiles. The reason I ask is that while I am determined and motivated to practice medicine in the Air Force, I am not sure if I have the stats to be admitted into this program - I will be applying this year.

I attend one of the top Ivies and have finished my freshman year with a 3.3 GPA (low, I know, but there were several unforeseen hurdles that I had to overcome). I have volunteered in medical settings, conducted social sciences/humanities research, and have a first-author publication from a few years ago (that is just now in the stages of publication). My biggest hurdle is my GPA right now. My science GPA is even lower.

I would appreciate any responses! I am just trying to see where I fall in the pool of those admitted to previous programs! I am very interested in Mount Sinai in particular.

Thanks!

Use the search function. There’s a huge thread about it.

If you particularly interested in practicing in the AF, you should look into USUHS

and the Air Force HPSP

I like how you didn’t say princeton and instead wrote “one of the top ivies” despite your name having the word “tiger” in it and it saying princeton '16 below your name.

Reminds me of the simpsons:

Good morning class. A certain…agitator…for privacy’s sake
let’s call her…Lisa S. No, that’s too obvious…uuuh, let’s
say L. Simpson --

Not worth the app fee, IMO.

OP,

A 3.3 from Princeton after the Freshman year, while not where you want to be, is definitely not the end of the world. Sinai FlexMed is an early assurance program and like most of them requires high stats. If I were you, I would concentrate on repairing that GPA and slowdown the process a bit instead of hurrying it up.
