Since everyone else is: my chances

I go to a well known large public high school in Chicago, I'm applying early decision...

SAT: Math: 800 Verbal: 750 Writing: 700
ACT: 34

Unweighted GPA: 3.6ish

Top 15% of my class in terms of weighted GPA

All honors courses, lots of AP's junior and senior year.

National Merit commended scholar and all that jazz...

there's a fair amount more but it's late and I'm lazy... whaddya think?

Pretty good chance it seems like....

oh god, y r u guys so freakin good, im appying Ed too and it seems like IM up againt some rough battles. DAmn, calm down people

30%.............................................................

ctsurgery, can you elaborate on grtheman's chances. I mean he had great SAt scores and are taking demanding courses. His EC are also pretty solid. Why is his chance only 30%. I mean my stats cannot be compared to his, and from what you are saying I am an automatic reject.

doesnt dartmouth's class have like 88% in the top 10% of their class? if you are in the top 15%, then you consist of only the 12% of acceptees and many of those acceptees are recruited...

Do you go to Stevenson High school?

oh i got it thanx guys

I go to New Trier High School, actually...

which kills my chances, unfortunately

why would a particular high school kill your chances?

it's so big, with 1000 kids in my class (and so academically competitive), that their are many superior candidates... being in the top 13% means being among the top 130 ish kids... you know?

just too many kids, bottom line

Looks good to me, but then again, I'm not real.

I agree with ct.

hey guys i have a question. The deadline for early decision is postmark or is it the day that your application hat to be in the office. Thanx

my son goes to a really small high school....with no weighted grades. that makes being in the top 10% even more difficult. oh well. everyone has their obstacles to overcome. too many kids, too few kids, unweighted grades, you name it. i wish you good luck and hope it works out just the way you want it to!

anyone with my questions

dartmouth is pretty leaniant with the recieving date. I talked to one adcom. Talking about rd, he says that dont overnight your app so it could be here jan 2. we dont want all that mail to sort through. He was like jan 1 is a tentative date. Just get all your stuff within a week or so and you should be good. I am guessing it goes the same for ed as well.

that's a good point wbow... everyone certainly has hurdles

it really just seems like a crap shoot to me at this point

New Trier, eh? I have a good friend there...I know it's a big place, but do you know stephany hong?
