hey guys… i finished my A levels and am waiting for results… was wondering if you guys now how much weightage it truly has. I’ve alrdy been accepted to few univs(based on other grades etc) and will they revoke the offer if my grades arent that fanastic?

It would depend on what your predicted grades and prelim results (as submitted to your schools) were. If you have a predicted straight A score, one or even two Bs won’t hurt.

do yale penn and stanford offer interviews for spore students?

stanford offers no interviews at all

actually stanford just started interviews in a few selected states. not for singapore though.

yale and penn do offer interviews for singapore students.

Penn interviews Singapore students? They didn’t interview me - no wonder I got deferred from ED then rejected.

I think they do! According to this page: [Penn Admissions: Interviews](http://www.admissions.upenn.edu/applying/interviews.php)
There’s an active alumni network in singapore so I guess there are interviews.

I didn’t get an interview too but I got accepted ED. Maybe they only interview RD applicants?

I’m quite sure most (if not all?) the Ivies interview Singaporean applicants.

Is there anybody here who is previously or currently enrolled in Columbia or Brown?

I’ve been on a downhill slide since Secondary 1 and since most universities do not seem to consider achievements before the ninth grade, to what degree would GEP and MEP programs affect my application as a sophomore transfer student, if at all?

^ I think being in the GEP/MEP programs through Sec 3 and 4 might help a bit but I don’t think it would make much of a difference either way.

NYU emails me to tell me to send in my high school transcript. They said that it’s too small. The thing is, I’ve already send them in(virtually) together with the common apps. The only thing that I can think of that might be too small would be the scanned image of my A Levels result.

So, all they want is just a copy of my A level cert mailed to them right? All I need to do is just certify true that copy(there’s this clerk at the general office that does this) but now they want my counsellor’s signature(“high school transcript…signed by your high school counsellor”)? I’m honestly quite confused as to what they truly want. Can someone, anyone, help me understand what they’re trying to get me to do?

Well fax it to them and attach a note of explanation?

quick question: if i mentioned stuff like participation in a couple of competitions (no wins) and a couple of music and web design certs, should i send those as well ??? i’m sending in my stuff tomorrow and all i’ve decided on sending so far are 2 letters of recommendation and my O level results. which is kinda weak imo

Don’t send certs

^ Seconded.

i meant certified true copies of the certs. or did you mean not to send those at all ? what did you guys send ? sending an O level cert and 2 letters makes my package look kinda light lol.

I went and re-read the email.

They need 2 copies of my transcript(actually, it’s just my A Levels right?). One either by email or fax from my side and another one from my counsellor’s side. They want the counsellor’s one by regular mail.

So all I need to do now is to
- scan a copy of my A level cert and email it to them
- get a certified true copy of my A lvl cert and snail mail it to them

right?

Where does the counsellor’s signature(which they asked for) come in? I’ve already send them an email but they haven’t reply yet and I’m getting a little antsy.

Nope, they are usually not interested in it. You only send it if they specifically ask you to.

Maybe get someone in the school administration or your CT to sign on the certified true copy.

If I didn’t get an interview from yale, does that mean i’m not accepted already? Like are there any singaporeans accepted into the ivies that did not get an interview even though interviews were given to their peers?

oh yeah one more thing: if the application deadline is like 1 march for a school and my stuff reaches them on the 5th or 6th maybe (snail mail blows), would it be alright ? i’ve already sent in the app online + payment, now just gotta send in my certs. one of my friends said the stamps at the post office should be marked 1 march but i’m not too sure…
