he’s talking about transferring i.e. transferring to another college after your freshman or sophomore year

Thanks frankchn! (: Haha. I’m facing the same issue as a lot of people: NUS or US?
Currently Berkeley has accepted me (but so far, everyone I know who’s applied to Berkeley got in… I suspect it has something to do with their lack of funds.) but I’m wary of how Cali’s dire financial straits will affect Berkeley’s education quality.

Ivy League releasing their decisions in less than a day’s time! WHOOHOO~

^ Good luck!

Good luck sputnikmuffin and everyone else receiving their Ivy decisions :)

Good luck! Let us know the results of the applications! (only if you want to! )

Also, thanks guys for your help and advice on US univs etc :)

Sorry for the double post, i can’t seem to find the edit button?!

Wow fiona, that sounds super interesting. Any idea if these schools, for FinAid, would look at A level results? Also, what did your bestie do to secure the finaid, in terms of extra curricular activities, like volunteering etc???

Thanks!
Shannon

Meh XD. Me Fail. Anyhow, here is the 2010 admissions statistics tally for anyone interested: [2010 Admissions Tally - The Choice Blog - NYTimes.com](http://thechoice.blogs.nytimes.com/2010-admissions-tally/)

woah NYT is sure fast on this. admission rates are getting ridiculously low these days.

don’t hold your breath. it’s just the gen y baby boom. we’ll see in a decade

^shannonz: They’ll look at your A-Level grades definitely! Or in the case that you’re applying with predicted grades, they’ll look at those.

This sounds clich

Oh… ok haha then let me ask the question: is it easier to get into a good grad program from NUS or a US LAC?

@screwitlah

Imho each school’s competitive pool roughly would still be about the same… there’s only gonna be that many IMO medalists a year. Probably more people are getting “college-aware”, or maybe attracted by f-aid.

I got rejected by all the ivies, and this year is really surprising because a lot of people who seemed to be a shoo-in for Ivies/HYPSM got rejected as well, craaaazy. I do know of someone who got into Harvard, Yale and MIT though. (:

I’m going to Berkeley instead! Will try for Haas over there. Honestly my only concern is the size of the university (I heard it gets pretty cutthroat) and also how the dire financial straits in Cali is going to affect Berkeley.

Oh well. I could always transfer if I don’t like it there, I suppose. But really, college is what you make of it, so I plan on having an awesome time :D

Anyone waitlisted? I was, but not at HYPSM.

I came from a JC that loves to slay students during exams, so my A-level grades are markedly better than my JC exam grades.

Ya, even if the US adcoms don’t understand the Sg education system, and even if your counsellor probably wrote “very demanding curriculum” for 4 H2 subjects, Cs and Ds do not look good anywhere!

Do you think this vast improvement would help Singaporean waitlistees in the same boat as me? This is the time they look at Final Report to confirm their decision when space opens up, so fingers crossed.

Isn’t that pretty much all of them?

If you are wait-listed, send your A-level results as soon as possible. Don’t wait - do it, do it now!

Hi, any princeton 2014ers (or 2016ers depending on NS) lurking around here?

just wanted to ask if ur financial aid offers were as good as you all expected?

@frankchn: yup, done. All my applications were done of Common App, so it says that all my colleges have downloaded my Final Report. Academically, nothing else Singaporean waitlistees can do now as our school year is over.
