CJC man
sigh, i hope can straight Bs for prelims…

Haha. Ok.

Good Luck for your results. Btw, It is great that your school is predicting two grades up. That is generous. My school only predicts one grade up. Sigh!!!

Anyways, What school you applying to?

NYU Stern ED.
I did get about 2 As and 3Bs for Promo though, im just afraid that if i submit both promo and prelims, they saw the downward trend and thats gonna hurt me. Bs dont look quite nice i think.(i dont even know whether i can make it all Bs yet :|)

@Suarez606:what jc are u grom?

ACS.

Cool. Ure Interested in business huh.

Btw, how are your SATs coming along? U applying another sch?

I am most prob majoring in Phy. :)

just saw this singaporean guy with 2200+ on SATs I and 2300+ on SATs II getting rejected from almost all his unis, now studying at UW-Madison.

ok this is disheartening:(

edit: also, people here keep insisting that the last 4 years of high school count, so why do singaporeans here insist that no reporting of sec 3 and 4 marks are needed?

seriously, i know people who mugged alot until they get 2400 but they don’t get into good schools b/c they don’t show their other side… besides their mugging capabilities :p

cos the system is freaking different -___- do you go to an american high school?

no i didn’t. i graduated with the ib diploma. anyway i won’t be sending my sec 3 and 4 transcripts, maybe my IB1 and IB2 transcripts only

rhetorical question ftw

Personally I find that SAT scores are often not a good indicator of a quality application when it comes to Singaporean students…

Sec 3 and 4 scores are not needed in the sense that the colleges won’t care enough to ask for them if you don’t include them. I included them but who knows how much difference they made? My guess is very little.

fiona is trying to be mean on her birthday.

in other news, happy mid autumn festival! :D

Hi guys, just 1 question about the significance of prelims vs predicted grades?
im dead worried now ![]()
thanks

yo guys just to confirm, is submitting only ip sec4 transcript and a levels the norm?
Cause my school wants the ex-students applying to submit all results (sec4, j1,prelims and alevels), to be uploaded by the school, is there a way out hmm?

chengkiat: that’s between you and your school. Just Os or sec 4 and As/prelims + predicted is indeed the norm.

how are h3 grades looked at? i failed my h3 prelims ): ): how bad is this going to be i’m super worried now.

hi everyone, got something regarding yale to ask here

from yale’s website, it says that

but my question is, how do we do that on common apps? anyone has any idea?

I guess you can just send them a certified true copy of your A-level certificate or results slip.

Poly graduate here. I was wondering whether any of the ivy league or top tier uni’s accept a diploma with merit?

I’m planning to take at least 2 subject SATs, but I’m not sure if it’s enough? I’m from SP, and I only know one guy who’s going to harvard.

Do I include those certificates from NSW Competitions and Australian Chemistry Quizzes under awards? Are they even important? Also, do I just show those with distinction and high distinction, or should I include merit and lower too?

Oh and my school said they require our results from Sec 4, J1 Promos, Higher Chinese and PW. Is there any way to get out of submitting some of these because I didn’t do very well in them as compared to others?

Those are not very important so if you have something more important to fill up the space, don’t put the NSW competitions down.

That sounds like RJ. It that case, probably not, since if i’m not wrong they still use the centralised naviance system to send the results as a whole batch thus you have no control over your own envelopes and stuff.
