Single Chances Early Action

Chances for Yale SCEA
White, middle-class male.

GPA: ~3.7 (UW), 6.0 (W)
My school uses an odd weighting system. My grades have risen each year, culminating in a 4.0 UW last year and resulting in:

Class Rank: 4/380

Honors/AP Courses taken:

World Cultures, U.S. History I, AP U.S. History, AP Psychology

I've taken the most challenging schedule possible.

Test Scores
SAT: 2260 (800 CR, 700 Math, 760 Writing)
APs: 5, U.S. History, 5, Chemistry

-National Merit Semifinalist

I'll be taking three SAT II's in October: Math IIc, Chemistry, and U.S. History. I'll also be taking the ACT and retaking the SAT in November, as well as 5 (possibly 6) AP exams next May. I'm not sure what to predict for the Nov. SAT. I'd like to say to 2300+, but I'm continuously frustrated by the math portion.

Oh, and I'm a legacy.

hmmmm bump!

Decent, not great, not bad. Nothing that'll really help you stand out except if you're talking to coaches about soccer and the legacy thing, but about a bajillion legacies apply every year so it's not going to help you out a ton.

If you don't get in most people have no chance.

Superb academics, breadth and depth of ECs. Your combined SAT is nice, although they might frown a little bit on the 700 in Math. (Then again, it's just one nick in what is otherwise a very solid application)

I have to agree southeasttitan - I used to think legacies were a shoo in at schools, but if legacies really did get massive favor in their applications you wouldn't see non legacies at schools.
