ok guys im confused about single choice early action…i kno that u cant apply early decision to any other school if u do that but can u apply early action to many school even if one of then is single choice???..thanks

Single choice is not difficult vocabulary.

yeah if u SCEA you CAN NOT ED somewhere else

SINGLE CHOICE early action.

That is, single. Early.

You can apply to only one school early, hence the "single" in the "single choice."

isnt that the same as ED then?

It isn't the same as ED in that if you are accepted you are not required to attend the school. Schools that offer single choice early action usually allow you until May 1 to make a final decision, and you are allowed to apply to as many schools as you want under regular decision programs.

You can only apply to one school Early Action or EArly decision if that school is single choice. Yale is single choice early action, Princeton single choice early decision. Duke is early decision but not single choice, BC is early action, but not single choice. At least last year. It can change so you do need to read the application instructions carefully.

You can, however, apply early in the process to rolling admissions schools along with the single choice ED and EA school.

Duke is early decision but not single choice

What does that mean? If you ED anywhere, you're required to go to the school, so you can only ED one school in case you get accepted to 2. So how can duke not be single choice ED? Does that mean you can ED to other places too? It doesn't make sense.

You can apply to Duke ED, and if you are accepted, you are bound to withdraw any other applications you have submitted. However, you are permitted to apply to any Early Action schools along with Duke as long as those schools do not have rules against multiple early apps. For example, you can apply ED Duke, EA Tulane and EA BC all at the same time. If accepted to Duke, you have to withdraw you apps from Tulane and BC. IF Duke defers or rejects you, you still have early response from Tulane and BC with no obligation until May 1. However, a school like Princeton is single choice ED and when you apply early there, you do not have the option to apply to Tulane or BC, for example. You can apply to some rolling admissions schools but no EA schools. The same if you apply to a schools with SCEA such as Yale and Harvard.

Oh okay, thanks jamimom.
