I am planning to live on campus (or at least around campus) for Fall 2012. However, all of the dorms I see are double dorms or at least shared kitchen or something, but I really want just my own room with own kitchen/bathroom/etc. Does USF have single dorms? Also, at my current college i hear horror stories of how ppl cant sleep at night in the dorms because someone is always having a party at like 1 am lol. Im not a party person at all and like to sleep at night or study late into the night in quiet. Is noise a problem at usf dorms? Is there an efficient way to report such noise problems after a certain hour of the night? (at my current college ur supposed to call security if after 11 ppl are being rly loud, but supposedly this doesnt always work for some reason because the ppl that got reported then become angry and start making sudden loud bangs from time to time just to still be able to annoy the ppl living around them..ppl are so strange lol)...Also, are the dorms generally nice or ugly and are there any general problems with them? (in my current college the dorms look nice on the pictures online but in reality are not nice and i have heard from time to time that there are bed-bug infestations in certain sections of the dorms, so naturally i am kind of wary of dorms)...Also, are there nice and reasonably priced off-campus housing options (also non-shared as i really do not want roommate) ? This is going to be my first year living on or around campus by myself, so any advice is appreciated! :)

if you want to be totally by yourself, you need to be off-campus. even the off-campus apartments have a shared kitchen typically, though. you can get a 1/1 apartment unfurnished off-campus… and I think there is one student apartment in the area that can be furnished & 1/1 but it’s expensive… wish I could remember the name. but if you’re concerned about noise, honestly I think on-campus is better because there are more rules, and there are more people who can help you deal with issues, like your R.A. and the housing people. if you’re off-campus all you can do is call the cops and make a noise complaint, which may or may not even be effective. on-campus is better because there are people there whose job it is to make sure you have a good housing experience!!
