Are there a lot of single dorm rooms available for freshman?
There seem to be quite a few singles as they are mentioned for each dorm:

Also look at the layouts of the buildings in the North Residential village…i think the smaller rooms are singles.
I currently live in a single and it is less than ideal.
There are not a lot of singles. I live in Cutler and my room is roughly 8x10. If you're introverted and need a quiet space to yourself, like I do to do work, it is tough to be in a room this small for 15-17 hours a day (that includes when I'm sleeping btw).
There are very few single rooms compared to double rooms and most of the singles go to RAs and people with accommodations.
VERY IMPORTANT, first floor dorm rooms are mostly singles, I believe, but the windows do not open on the first floor!!!
I do like the quad style of Cutler though because I only have to share a bathroom with 8 other people and it is really private getting there from my room.
None of the freshman dorms are nice nor are any of them big.
It is roughly 2,000$ more per semester for a single even if you have a single as a result of an accommodation.
If you need housing accommodations do it AS SOON AS YOU CONFIRM YOU ARE GOING TO CASE. Getting housing accommodations is a hassle especially the closer it gets to the start of school.
Unless you believe having a roommate would be the worst thing ever, I would suggest going with a roommate for your first year at least. Especially if you tend to be introverted. People always talk about how great college is, which it is but it is a huge transition for some and it is much easier to make that transition if you know someone before you get here. I am very much a homebody and I tend to stick with who I know because it gives me the boost of confidence I need to make new friends, I didn’t have that when I got here because I’m in a single (and for several other reasons, some of which are the schools fault but it doesn’t matter anymore, what’s done is done).
