Okay, I know Cornell offers Single, Double,Triple, and maybe a quad (not sure). I was just wondering how was your experience in a single, double, or triple dorm. Here’s some questions.

Is it easier to study in a single than in a double or triple? (I imagine it would, but I think I’m a library or a study lounge person.)

Is there equal spaces/room in a single, dorm, or triple? Or is there enough space? Like if you get a double or triple, do you have equal amounts of personal space?

Which one is more social, as in which dorm gets the most visits?

How was your experience overall in a single, double or triple?

I am a very social person and I like to study in a library or in the study lounge. What kind of dorm do you think I should apply for?

Yes, much easier. I wouldn’t have it any other way, I get way more work accomplished from my room than when I am in the library, and it is much more convenient. If you get a single, you will probably find yourself taking advantage of it for study purposes. Why leave your room to study in a library when you can have just as much focus without going anywhere and having to bring all your stuff with you?

Not sure about a triple, but a single feels much smaller than a double, but it has plenty of space. Just feels smaller because the open area is, but there is no other person to distract you are take up any of that space.

This is irrelevant. How many visits you get depends on how many friends you make. As long as you have friends they can come hang out with you, or you with them in whatever kind of room you have.

I, and everyone I know in a single, loves it. Not having a roommate to mess up your sleep schedule or distract you is easily worth the extra cost.

Apply for whatever you want. There is literally no advantage to a double or triple other than cost though. I don’t know anyone who wouldn’t prefer a single if cost was equal. The only person I know in a triple hates it. And with a double, as a freshman you may end up with someone you cannot stand if it is a random person. Not worth the risk IMO.

Exactly why I requested a single room. Yay! :)

a triple would mean less room for at least one of you given that the 3rd bed is bunked…

a quad would be the same as a double (unless the room has two bunked beds)

freshman year i requested a double b/c i wanted to be social…but turns out my roomate came to cornell with his girlfriend which ruined my intentions…

a single is good and you wont miss out on anything b/c most of the socializing happens during orientation :D
